Design Your Own Arts Organisation

Drawing a Presence, 2016

Drawing a Presence was an exhibition at Newlyn Art Gallery that showcased the work of 8 young artist-led collectives living and working in Cornwall. As part of our contribution to the show we developed a worksheet for the public to design their own arts organisation, to see what people would create if they could start their own arts venture. You can download the worksheet here if you would like to try it for yourself.

FUNDERS AND PARTNERS

Field Notes were approached by Newlyn Art Gallery to contribute to their 2016 survey show Drawing A Presence. The exhibition invited visitors to see Cornwall from the perspective of a new generation of young artists through the output of eight artist-led collectives based in the county. We put together a space that hosted documentation of our projects to date; a small library of books, selected by the artists in the show; a screening of Sam Thorne’s Clubhouse talk; and a silent presentation by Rosalie Schweiker, originally created for Kerri Jefferis and Sophie Chapman’s event Opportunity Makers, Opportunity Takers.

Drawing a Presence was curated by Elle Sambrook and Henry Osman and exhibited at Newlyn Art Gallery.
